Slate cladding for luxury condominium complex: Greenstone Slate® Vermont Clear Gray installed using the Nu-lok™ slate installation system

Greenstone Vermont Clear Gray slate was selected for use as exterior wall cladding on the luxury townhome and condominium development, Robinson Landing, in Old Town Alexandria.

Slate siding adds design elegance and longevity to a building, with the important indirect benefit of very low maintenance…no painting or staining is needed with this slate wall application – either at the time of installation or at any time over the life of the cladding itself.

The genuine Vermont slate was installed using the Nu-lok™ slate installation system. Nu-lok™ is a modern alternative method to traditional slate roof installation that is used not only for installing reduced-weight genuine slate roofs but also for installing slate siding. For slate wall applications, each slate is suspended individually, making repairs and access to the building a simple process of removing one or more slates as needed. All of this is accomplished while also retaining the benefits of natural slate: aesthetic elegance, 100+ year longevity, Miami-Dade county approval for use in hurricane zones, and enhancement of property value.

Greenstone Slate provided 46 squares of 16″ x 12″ Vermont Clear Gray S1 roofing slate for this slate wall application. The Vermont Clear Gray slate is a semi-weathering, hard-vein slate with colors ranging from light to medium gray. When weathered, 10-20% of the slate will also exhibit shades of buff.
