Vermont slate roof installed on Pennsylvania residence using SlateTec installation method
This large Colonial-style residence in Pennsylvania showcases a new random width slate roof that was installed using the SlateTec installation method. SlateTec roofs weigh roughly 40% less than traditional installations yet retain the aesthetics of traditionally installed slate roofs!
The Greenstone Slate Company was selected to supply the 125 squares of natural Vermont ASTM S1 slate. A blend of unfading green and purple slate tiles was provided as 12″ random width slates. The Standard Grade Rough Texture slate was split at thicknesses between 1/4” to 3/8” and is commonly used in conjunction with our lightweight installation methods, such as SlateTec, which reduces the installed weight to under 6 lbs per sq ft. Standard Grade Rough Texture slate has a Class 3 hail rating. Copper, which has the longest lifespan and is also visually appealing, was used for smaller sections of the roof and as flashing and gutters.
